NTT DATA

ux usability audit

NTT asked us to assess their portfolio of websites to discern their effectiveness and compare them to competitors; ranging from Navigation & UX to Design & Appearance. As a team, we audited across 10 NTT Data global sites and 8 competitor sites.

My Role

I worked in the Navigation & UX stream where the team performed a usability heuristic and best practices assessment of the NTT DATA sites.

Along with a few NTT Data sites, I assessed the usability of UI components and patterns common of 8 large international corporate marketing sites.

Problem

NTT DATA's web presence varies, with multiple websites primarily organized geographically. The diverse look-and-feel, client experience, and core content across their web properties hinder their ability to establish a world-class market leadership position.

Design Challenge

Assess the NTT DATA portfolio of websites to discern their effectiveness and compare them to competitors.

Solution

In addition to the final presentation and recommendations, clients received a comprehensive spreadsheet containing a heat map illustrating overall usability scores. A slide deck with annotated screenshots provided examples of usability issues and accompany the spreadsheet.

1

UX Assessment Spreadsheet

Extensive spreadsheet including a summary scorecard with final component scores, guidelines source file, individual NTT Data site scorecards, and competitor scorecards.

2

Annotation Slides

Gathered screenshots and annotations to validate findings and data presented in the spreadsheet.

Process

Best Practices and Heuristics

We researched, created, and comprehended guidelines and usability best practices for various web components.

The usability best practices and guidelines have been curated for NTT DATA’s context, from sources such as Nielsen Norman Group, Baymard Institute, and Havas’s own experiences.

A slide deck was crafted for every audited site, complimenting each individual scorecard.

Screenshots and annotations were provided, clearly displaying examples of the usability of web components and validating our assessment.

Reflection

Working on this project was valuable as it marked my first experience conducting an extensive, large-scale audit for a global corporation. Although the work was labour intensive, it contributed to enhancing my foundational understanding of usability heuristics and deepening my knowledge of best practices related to web components.
